Upgrade prompts in the app

What the violet "Upgrade plan" cards mean, where they appear, and how to act on them as an admin or a member.

Updated May 30, 2026

When a feature in Queringo needs a higher plan than the one your workspace is on, the app shows a small violet card explaining what the feature is and which plan unlocks it. The card has one button:

  • Upgrade plan if you're an account admin (deep-links into the upgrade flow).
  • Talk to sales if the feature is on the Enterprise plan and you're an account admin (opens an in-app contact form; Enterprise is custom-priced and not self-serve).
  • Request upgrade from your admin if you're a member without billing permission (sends an in-app notification to your admins; rate-limited to one request per feature per hour).

The card looks the same everywhere it appears, so once you have seen one you know what to do with the rest.

The card is purely informational. Nothing happens to your data or your other features when it appears. You can keep using everything your plan already includes.

Where you'll see the card

The card sits inline next to the feature it gates, never as a popup that interrupts your work. The most common places it appears:

  1. In settings

Visit Settings → API keys, Settings → SSO / SAML, Settings → AD Sync (SCIM), or Settings → Security on a plan that doesn't include that capability and the card renders in place of the form. The page title and description stay so you know what feature is gated.

  2. When you hit a numeric cap

Try to create a new dashboard, alert, or invite a teammate beyond your plan's allowance and the card renders above the list. It shows the current usage against the limit (for example, 5 of 5 used) so the cap is explicit.

  3. When you pick a faster cadence

Open the alert composer or a dashboard widget's refresh menu on a plan that doesn't include the cadence you picked. The locked options stay visible but are disabled, with a tooltip explaining which plan unlocks them. A compact card sits above the group.

  4. When you open the connect-source picker

Browsing data sources on a plan that doesn't include a connector category (for example, lake connectors on Starter or Growth) shows the category tiles disabled with the required plan badge. A compact card sits above the grid.

  5. When you open the share menu

Picking Embed on a dashboard for a plan that doesn't include embed tokens disables the option and shows the card.

What unlocks each feature

Your account admin can also unlock specific features for your workspace independent of the plan tier (a per-account entitlement override). When that is in place, the gate card disappears for the unlocked feature even if your plan would otherwise include it. Ask an admin to confirm if you think you should already have access.

I'm a member, not an admin

You'll see Request upgrade from your admin instead of the upgrade link. Clicking it sends an in-app notification (and any configured Slack / email channels) to your account admins. They get a deep link straight to the billing page so they can act on it.

  1. Click Request upgrade from your admin

The button changes to Sending… while the request is in flight.

  2. Wait for the confirmation toast

You'll see Request sent. Your admin can upgrade from billing. If you already requested the same feature in the last hour, the toast reads Your admin has already been notified. to prevent accidental spam.

  3. Check back later

The button shows Admin notified and disables itself to make the pending request obvious. Once an admin upgrades, your card disappears and the feature opens up on your next page load.

I'm an admin, what does Upgrade plan do?

The link takes you to /app/402, the in-app paywall page, with the required plan pre-selected and a Back button that returns you to where you were. From there you can open billing and complete the upgrade. Payment goes through the configured provider (Paddle or Razorpay) and your entitlements unlock as soon as the webhook lands. There is no separate provisioning step.

For Enterprise features (SSO, AD Sync, IP allowlist, VPC peering, HIPAA, embed tokens) the button reads Talk to sales instead and opens an in-app form. Enterprise pricing is custom, so a human walks you through scope, security review, and contract terms. Someone reaches out within one business day.

My account is paused or past due

If your account is in any of these states, the violet card stops appearing on individual pages. Instead, a banner across the top of every page explains the situation. Resolving the underlying billing issue (paying the past-due invoice, lifting an overage cap) restores access without any other action on your part.

This is intentional. While the account is paused, surfacing both a feature-by-feature upgrade card and the global banner would muddy the message. The banner takes priority because it explains the root cause.

Troubleshooting

The card says I need Scale but I'm already on Scale. Refresh the page. Your client may still hold the previous billing snapshot. If the card persists, an admin may have a per-account override that locked the feature for your workspace; check the Billing page.

My admin upgraded but I still see the card. Sign out and back in once. Entitlement changes propagate via a live stream, but a stale session can occasionally hold the old values. After signing back in the gate clears.

I can't see Request upgrade, only Upgrade plan. You have the workspace.billing.write permission, which routes you to the upgrade flow directly. Account admins always have it.

Where do I see what I've already requested? There is no list. Each request fires a one-time notification to your admins and disables the button on the surface you requested from. Trying the same feature again within an hour shows Admin notified without re-sending.
